With a whopping 54 pieces this build can be a big challenge!
The drumming monkey uses cams to change rotation force into a linear force moving the drumsticks up and down.
He sounds great and looks amazing when he is finished! Give it a go yourself.
Explanation of a cam
Cams work by changing the rotational (circle) force of our handle or motor into a linear (up and down or left and right) force. They are made from smooth unsymettrical shapes which can push up and down on beams or other objects in our mechanisms. You can see it in action below:

Watch out to carefully place the red gear inside of the monkey’s belly, it can be easy to miss!

Things to try:

Change the position of the cams to change the drum beat. -
Change the monkeys hands to make the sound louder or quieter. -
Place small metal bowls over the drums to hear interesting sounds.l -
Change the monkey’s head to make it look cooler!
